For the first time in their history, Belgium was crowned world champion in India. The Red Lions claim the title over the three-time world champions: the Netherlands. In a dramatic finish, the game ends up with a penalty shootout. After being runner-up in the 2016 Olympics Games and in 2017 European Championship, Belgium finally won a major trophy in (field) Hockey.
?? Belgium 0 – 0 The Netherlands ??
(Penalties 3-2)

The game was intense and tight all along. None of the teams were able to score during the regular time. Indeed, both teams had to go to shoot-outs in order to be the winner of this final. In the beginning, Belgium missed the two first penalties and everyone thought it will be an easy win for the Netherlands. But after one miss by Van Dam, Belgium grew in confidence and Van Aubel scores to give the title to the Red Lions.
